Some of the things I’ve been eating over the last week:
Clockwise from the top:
High tea at the Shangri-la hotel, Toronto. It was a Chinese New Year themed tea and it was really, really good. Classic scones with “clotted cream” (it wasn’t clotted cream. It was more like whipped cream), Chinese five-spice scones, dim sum, spring rolls. If you get a chance to check out their tea service– do it!
Monkey bread: This time I used a bundt cake pan and it was enormous and delicious.
GUACAMOLE: Need I say more? If you’re looking for an excellent guac recipe look no further. For a snack for one (or two, if you’re generous) Start by mashing two peeled and cored avocados. Combine with the juice of one lime. 2 or 3 tbsp of chopped red onion, salt and pepper, a handful of chopped cherry tomatoes and a 1/4 cup of chopped fresh cilantro. Stir it all around, et voila! I also threw in the Epicure guac spice mix and it is REALLY good. If you can get your hands on it, do it!
Mason jar salads: This was my lunch for a couple days. Arugula, red onion, cherry tomatoes, quinoa, bocconcini and pesto. Absolutely lovely.
I’ve had a busy few days and they don’t seem to be slowing down. I’ve had dinner out the last few days so I haven’t had a chance to check out any new recipes. Hopefully I’ll be able to catch you all up with some of my more recent recipe attempts. See you all soon!
