I worked on a few recipes over the past week. I didn’t love the recipes. They were just okay. Maybe I’m still upset over the butternut squash curry?! Either way, I figured I’d share some of the meals I had this week.
I picked this up for lunch in Leslieville (in Toronto) at a little restaurant on Coady Ave called “Completo”. The place is a literal hole in the wall and accepts only cash. What you’re looking at are fries with refried beans, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese, mashed avocado, hot sauce and sour cream. It was amazing. Everything they serve is to die for and I totally recommend checking it out.
This was dinner a few nights ago. There’s a new grocery store in my hometown that rivals Whole Foods. They do a fair number of ready meals and this was the $6.99 shrimp stir-fry. It was really good and the perfect portion size for me. It included rice noodles, shrimp, pico de gallo, green onions, bok choy, and zucchini with ginger sauce. I made this pad graprow from Chrissy Teigen’s cookbook. It was exactly as promised – Basil chicken. Wasn’t my favourite. So far it’s the only thing I’ve made from her cookbook that I wasn’t totally in love with. A copy of the recipe can be found HERE, but honestly there are tons of way better recipes in her book that I wouldn’t start with this one.
In between these meals I’ve been drinking copious amounts of tea, in an attempt to shake the never-ending cold that just won’t quit. Hopefully I’ll be back with an inspired recipe very soon.
After all, I did pick up 3 cookbooks over the past week.
