Preface: I’m on holidays for a couple of weeks so I hope to get back into the swing of posting a little bit more regularly. Honestly, I haven’t been cooking anything that interested me enough to share, but things are going to change!! Now please enjoy your regularly scheduled recipe…
My friend Jonathan served this delicious Sangria when I was over at his apartment last week. The recipe is amazing. So amazing that I actually bought red wine to make it. I don’t know if I’ve ever even walked down some of the red wine aisles at the LCBO. Red wine usually gives me brutal headaches, but not this time! In the end, I harassed Jonathan enough that he sent me the recipe. So here it is…
Start with a very dry Spanish red. I chose a Rioja Reserva, which (apparently?!) is decently dry. In a nice pitcher, or whatever you’re using to pour your sangria, combine your whole bottle of red with 1 cup of ruby red grapefruit juice and one can of club soda. Add the juice of two limes and 1/4 cup of sugar (or 1/4 cup of simple syrup if your have it) and stir. Add some chopped or sliced tart or citrus fruits and enjoy. Be sure to serve with ice!
That recipe served 4 people two medium-ish glasses each. My favourite sangria recipe.
